Second Life is a 3-D virtual world entirely built and owned by its residents. Since opening to the public in 2003, it has grown explosively and today is inhabited by a total of 7,874,247 people from around the globe. The 0 Project in Second Life uses the image in a completely contemporary and unusual manner. Second Life contains all the violence and sex of the real world but as in the real world is also able to aspire to higher goals both artistically and morally. The 0 project on Second Life combines a fresh art form with social conscienceness and aims to go far beyond a banal interpretation in both expression and content. It also connects to the fanciful nature of the project and brings a whole new awareness to both the project and the possibilities of virtual reality. Events in Second Life included art contests, gatherings to express concern for less known causes, and a special event combining real and virtual reality.
